It is highly contagious. Unfortunately I once took in a cat that was very dear to me and it turned out that he had it. I thought he was a very young kitten, maybe 3 months old. It turned out he was 6 months old.
Some of the signs of it are watery eyes, fever, and constant sneezing or other respiratory problems.
I'd say it sounds more like the cats in your neighborhood are being poisoned. I hope the poisoner poisons themselves by accident. It would be justice.Cie Cheesemeisterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14871507564733240927noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-119962582208526992.post-59860182805018290032008-08-24T00:55:00.000-03:002008-08-24T00:55:00.000-03:00that's so sad...I hope Boots sticks around and mak...that's so sad...
I hope Boots sticks around and makes it to adulthood!Kyahgirlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04496268340516243071noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-119962582208526992.post-18384539697125147292008-08-22T23:52:00.000-03:002008-08-22T23:52:00.000-03:00It's not always fatal, because my family once ...It's not always fatal, because my family once adopted two kittens with it, Grosset & Dunlap. Grosset survived to be hit by a car, and Dunlap survived but was dim-witted and sneezed a lot. Eventually she went blind and disappeared, but we had her for nine years.
Anyway, I hope Icy and Boots can be company for each other.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-119962582208526992.post-11261325326908502642008-08-22T14:33:00.000-03:002008-08-22T14:33:00.000-03:00Maybe it's feline distemper that's killing them. ...Maybe it's feline distemper that's killing them. My two cats Raymond and Leon are actually part of this lineage. One of my former neighbors took in a pregnant cat and they were part of that litter. There are always gray tabbies (like Leon) and gray and white long hairs (like Raymond) among these litters, and I am not sure, but Trinity (my calico cat) may have been part of one of those litters too. Isis the Pyro Cat was from before we moved into that house. We brought her with us. She was semi-wild. She's the only one of the cats that isn't strictly indoor. She gets out around my feet, so I can't really fight her on it. She's a lot faster than me.
It's so sad to hear about Mr. Gray and Turdy. :-(
I hope Boots stays sort of shy. He'll live longer that way.Cie Cheesemeisterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14871507564733240927noreply@blogger.com
