We humans say some pretty silly things.Don't mind us.Be careful not to literally choke yourself to death with that rope. That would NOT be good.
Icy, literal and figurative can be difficult to understand but science always makes sense.Give someone enough rope and watch them.
A rope in the hands of Barney Fife makes me nervous. I'm always afraid he might inadvertently hang himself or somebody else.
some people hang themselves on not enough rope, even.
