Scared of What Might Be Out There

That's Icy on the back porch. She is afraid to leave the lighted area. When it's dark like this, she just goes over to the edge of the porch to pee, then rushes back into the light. If she hears a noise out there in the dark, she runs into the house.

Our Tobin is skitzy when it comes to shadows, car lights, and moving lights in the dark. Since he was a puppy he has been afraid of the dark. REALLY afraid. What can one do with a neurotic dog? It's okay Icy - it's just a screech owl making that noise.

I don't blame her. I can go walking around the neighborhood at night because there are street lights and it's pretty quiet, but I'm actually kinda scared of the dark. I sleep with a light on!

Looks like the Ariel school of photography is starting to catch on. This photo is really frightening.

Indie, I love that photo, too. A small dog in the light, and everywhere around is dark. Frightening indeed. I'm glad I am not the only one here afraid of the things live in dark.

Icy, I am laughing WITH you!

It's actually an instinct in female dogs because they have to survive to care for pups. When there is danger, the female (bitch) barks and gets the male excited and he runs out to distract any danger from the female and pups. Even if Icy and Dusty are old and "fixed" so they no longer can have pups, that inborn instinct is still there.
